Convenience In The Remote Rain Gauge

We've all been driving down the highway and experienced the sudden outburst of rain, after a completely dry drive. Sometimes it really is as if there is an invisible wall, no rain on one side, and heavy rain on the other, that you have suddenly and unknowingly passed through. This is the perfect evidence that you can't be sure about the level of rainfall, even within a relatively small area.

We've all probably also experienced a weather forecast of rain for our city and found at the end of the day that half of the city got rain and the other half didn't! If you want to know just what amount of rain is falling right where you live, you should have a rain gauge set up in your yard.

A rain gauge is a weather instrument that collects and measures rain. The standard rain gauge has a funnel that directs collected rain into a cylinder that is marked in millimeters. As the rain falls and collects, you can see the amount of rainfall in the cylinder.

Modern rain gauges are more advanced. They provide the same information, but can also relay that information to a remote display base. This means you can have the gauge outside in your yard, and still be able to read the level of rainfall within your home.

The remote rain gauge has sensors that acurately determine the water level. They then relay that information to the base located in your home. In most cases it is important that the monitoring device is within unobstructed view of the base so that the wireless signals can be sent from the remote rain gauge.

There are a variety of different types of measuring devices that use a remote rain gauge. For some people measuring rain is all they are interested so they choose one that is just for that purpose. These will also often have rain alarms to alert you when there is rain or rain to a certain level. They also provide a reading for the day as well as an accumulative reading.

Remote rain gauges are also a part of other home weather stations. You can find them with just an indoor/outdoor temperature display along with the rainfall measurement, or you can find systems that display everything you could possibly want to know about the weather, barometric pressure, wind speed and direction, humidity levels and more.

There are also more options you can choose to have in your weather station but may be at higher costs. Determine what information you want to know and buy one that provides you with just that information. If you're only interested in rainfall, a remote rain gauge can be purchased rather cheaply.
